A Life of Service Remembered: Deputy Tony Cooper

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Deputy Tony Cooper, whose passing this morning has left our community in shock and deep sadness. Tony was more than a deputy; he was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a public servant who gave his life to protecting and serving others.

Tony dedicated over 30 years to law enforcement, building a career defined by integrity, commitment, and compassion. He proudly served with the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office, SEMO DPS, and the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his career, Tony maintained a reserve commission with Bollinger County, a testament to his unwavering dedication to the community he called home. His service was not just a profession, but a calling—one he answered faithfully every day.

Outside of his badge, Tony was known for his warm spirit and love of life. He enjoyed playing guitar, hunting coyotes, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all else, Tony loved to laugh and had a special gift for making others laugh with him. His sense of humor and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.As we mourn this tremendous loss, we ask that you keep Tony’s family, friends, and the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers. Deputy Tony Cooper’s legacy of service and kindness will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed.
