Adam Campbell Smithson Brentwood, TN Obituary:In Loving Memory
BRENTWOOD, TN – Adam Campbell Smithson, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 19. A resident of Brentwood, Tennessee, Adam’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and community.
Adam was the cherished son of Laird Smithson and Sydney Patterson Smithson and a devoted brother to Anna, Jack, and Reid. Born on October 12, 2006, he was a 2025 graduate of Brentwood High School and a freshman studying aerospace engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where his brilliant and inquisitive mind found a natural fit.

While his academic pursuits reflected his intelligence, Adam’s character was defined by a quiet kindness, loyalty, and a deep passion for life. He was a talented musician who found solace and joy in playing the guitar. An avid outdoorsman, he loved climbing, camping, and exploring nature with those he loved. His gentle demeanor and caring spirit left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Adam is survived by his parents; siblings; aunts Kim (Steve) Gawrys and Cynthia (Hunter) Shelden; and cousins Trot (Hannah), Sara-Jane, Zade, JT Gawrys, Owen, Zada-Belle, and Oliver Shelden.
A private family memorial will be held in January. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a favorite charity in Adam’s memory, honoring a beautiful soul gone too soon.
