Avery Reed,Coroner Identifies Man Killed in Decatur Wreck Involving 18-Wheeler

DECATUR, Ala. — The Morgan County Coroner has released the identity of the man killed in a Tuesday afternoon collision involving a tractor-trailer.

Coroner Jeff Chunn identified the victim Wednesday as 30-year-old Avery Allen Reed.

The fatal three-vehicle crash occurred just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 67 and Refuge Headquarters Road. Emergency personnel from Decatur Police, Decatur Fire, and Decatur Morgan EMS responded to the scene.

According to Chunn, Reed was transported from the wreckage to Morgan County Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A second male involved in the incident was taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the collision or the events leading up to it. The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing by the Decatur Police Department.

The death marks a tragic loss for the community as officials work to determine the full circumstances of the Tuesday afternoon tragedy.
