Rockford Authorities Identify Victim in Jan. 6 Double Shooting
Rockford authorities have identified the man killed in a double shooting that occurred the evening of Jan. 6 as Perry Brown, 55, of Rockford.
According to the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3000 block of Rutgers Place at approximately 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they located two men who had been shot.
Police found a 53-year-old man inside a garage suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition has not been updated.

Outside the residence, officers found Brown suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel provided aid at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, Brown later died from his injuries, according to information released by the Rockford Police Department and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities have not released information regarding a suspect or possible motive in the shooting. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the circumstances that led to the violence.
