Poet Renee Nicole Good, 37, Named as Minneapolis Woman Shot Dead by ICE Agent
Minneapolis is in mourning after the police shooting death of 37-year-old poet Renee Nicole Good. The incident, which occurred during a protest on Wednesday, has sparked outrage and conflicting accounts between authorities and witnesses.
Good, a mother of three who grew up in Colorado Springs, had recently moved to Minneapolis. She was a widow, having lost her husband, comedian Timothy Macklin, in 2023, and was building a new life with her partner.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), agents fired after Good ignored commands to exit her burgundy SUV, reversed the vehicle, and deliberately drove toward them. This narrative has been fiercely disputed. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly dismissed the agency’s claim, calling it “bulls**t.” Eyewitnesses at the scene contradict the official version of events.

The human tragedy was captured in a harrowing video circulating online. The footage shows a witness speaking to a distraught woman who identified herself as Good’s wife. The grieving partner is heard wailing, “That’s my wife, I don’t know what to do.” When asked if she had support, she cried, “I have a six-year-old at school… we’re new here we don’t have anyone.”
Good was shot three times in the face. As investigations continue, her death leaves a partner shattered, three children without their mother, and a community demanding answers for a life cut short.
